Six months with a secondhand film camera
I bought an old rangefinder from a market stall mostly out of curiosity. The light meter was dead, so I learned the sunny sixteen rule out of necessity.
The first three rolls were mostly blurry. By the sixth I started waiting for the right moment instead of taking ten pictures of the wrong one.
Film is slower and more expensive, and that is exactly what made me better at noticing things.
